The primary focus of ICSA Labs anti-spam certification testing is to determine how well network-based anti-spam solutions block e-mail spam and how well they deliver legitimate e-mail.

To attain & maintain certification, tested products must demonstrate at least 97% spam blocking effectiveness with no more than 2 in 50,000 false positives on average over the preceding 30 days.  They must do this while meeting all 30+ testing requirements in the criteria document.
