Announcing the VERIS Community Application
November 11, 2010
By Al Potter

In March 2010, the Verizon RISK team released the VERIS framework, used to collect and classify the data in Verizon's well-known Data Breach Investigation Report (DBIR) series.  The hope is that the public release of VERIS would facilitate even wider participation in the effort and yield more data.

Today's release of the VERIS Community by the Verizon RISK Team, hosted by ICSA Labs, takes the project to a whole new level.  The community application allows for simple, anonymous, on-line reporting and classification of individual incidents and provides immediate feedback to the submitter in the form a mini-DBIR comparing the newly submitted incident to others on file in the database.

At ICSA Labs, we've been collecting and sharing security information with enterprises for more than 20 years, so we're proud and happy to be hosting the VERIS Community site and supporting this effort.  There's more information in the Verizon press release and at the Verizon Security Blog, “VERIS Community application launched.”
